#5  Reach

I Want To Do It Because:

> I want to be part of the community. I like to be part of a group of people, to feel the warmth and comfort of a bigger family. I like to feel safe and protected, and know that there will be always someone to help me when I need it the most.

> I want to protect the locals: the farmers, the traders, the neighbors, everybody who is doing their best to earn a living.

> I don't want my house to be full of stuff I only use once in a while; I want to feel free and to have space to be myself.

Always Keep in Mind To:

1) Buy locally

> I will try to buy as many products as I can that are from people living near me - buy locally - from relatives, friends, neighbors, local farms, small local shops, I will try to boost the local economy.

2) Share

> When I was a child, I would always hear my parents say "share your toys" because "sharing is caring". Why did I stop sharing as a grown-up? Because it's too much of a headache... Then just let's set up some ground rules together, regarding who/where/when does the storing, maintaining and using, for how long/how much. And what happens if it deteriorates/brakes, how do we pay for repair/recycle/buy another one.

Go to the Rule #6 Rent for examples.

> I will share transportation: take the train, bus, carpool, rather than using my own car. Or, I will research to see if in my neighborhood there is a car sharing service! I will not buy myself a car unless I will be the one in charge of driving the carpool every day.

Right Now I Can:

1. Research where I can find local farmers' markets.

The Good Part

I can :

> save a lot of money

> improve my social life

> be(come) friends with my neighbours

> experience a great feeling of community

> see/meet the maker of the objects I buy

> have more control over what I buy

> boost the local economy

> earn more as a seller

The Bad Part

> It takes some time at the beginning to reaserch for local resources, but once I get the hang of it, I will be able to see with my own eyes and maybe even meet the person who is making the things I buy.

> I might quarrel with my neighbors/friends/relatives over the shared objects, but it's ok because I can apologize, make up with them and try to improve our strategy (rules) so that we won't fight again. Or I can find someone else who can share with me.
