WHY?

1) Because simple is best.

Let's face it. Nothing brings you more money than efficiency through simplicity. The key words of this century are "user friendly" and "customer oriented", right? And does the consumer want complicated products ? No. Does the company want complicated processes? No. So for the sake of happy customers and happy shareholders, there is "Zero Waste". Which basically means waste nothing in the process of providing simple and effective products and services. Find the simplest, fastest and most effective way of doing business.

2) Because the most powerful companies of the world are doing it, so it must be important.

If Toyota, General Motors, Xerox, Procter&Gamble, Kraft, Sony, Lush, H&M and even Coca-Cola, Disney and Walmart (who would've expected them, too, right?) have set Zero Waste goals, than it means that Zero Waste is not just a philosophy for tree-huggers, but a very valid business goal to become a highly-competitive brand.

3) Because you have nothing to lose if you do it, but a lot to lose if you don't.

We live in a competitive society, where if you don't keep up with the ages, you will be left behind. For any respectable company R&D plays a very important role in setting the road for the future of the company. At any give time, consumers require better products: more convenient, easier to use, safer and more socially acceptable. So designing better products is just a metter of when, not if. So when you plan the future of your business, keep Zero Waste in mind and your business will become more efficient, your products will become better and less wasteful and the children will be more thankful for giving them a cleaner, greener future.
